We’re redefining freedom on the water - cleaner, safer, and built for the future of mobility
Freedom Without Footprints
At eSki, our mission is to transform water mobility into a cleaner, smarter, and more accessible experience. We exist to prove that high performance and sustainability not only can, but must go hand-in-hand.
Sustainability First
We design for a future where fun leaves no trace.
Safety & Reliability
Our craft is built for durability, uptime, and peace of mind.
Thrilling Performance
Instant torque, precision engineering, and freedom on the water.
Our Story
From Gas Cans to Game-Changer
eSki began with a moment of frustration on Lake Winnipesaukee — spilling gas into the water while refueling a jet ski. That moment sparked a mission: to reinvent personal watercraft for a cleaner, safer, and more sustainable future
The Spark
At 16, Jack Duffy-Protentis witnessed firsthand the environmental toll of gas-powered jet skis. The sight of fuel slicks on Lake Winnipesaukee inspired his vision for a cleaner alternative.
2008
Prototyping at WPI
As a Mechanical Engineering student at Worcester Polytechnic Institute, Jack built his first electric jet ski concept using a golf cart motor and Nissan Leaf batteries. Though far from final, the project proved the idea was viable.
2018-2022
Founding eSki
After graduating, Jack launched eSki in Worcester, MA. He assembled a team of engineers dedicated to designing watercraft that balanced the familiar with the innovative, ensuring riders felt both comfortable and excited about the shift to electric.
2021
Industry Debut
eSki unveiled its concept model at the Miami Boat Show, capturing industry attention and sparking early momentum among rental operators
2022
First Prototype
The team launched its first fully functional prototype on Lake Quinsigamond. Jack himself piloted it, experiencing the thrill of instant electric torque in near silence — proof of concept achieved
2023
Breakthroughs & Recognition
From hot-swappable battery systems inspired by power tools, to geofencing for fleet management, eSki introduced features tailored to rental operators’ needs. These innovations secured 125 letters of intent and recognition from leading incubators and innovation networks
2024-2025
Scaling the Future
Now based at Greentown Labs in Somerville, MA, eSki is raising funds to bring the Trident ES1 into production, building the foundation for an entire family of electric recreational vehicles
Today
Our team
Jack Duffy-Protentis — Founder & CEO
Jack Duffy-Protentis founded eSki to redefine water mobility through clean energy. Diagnosed at age eight with Stargardt disease, a degenerative eye condition that left him legally blind, Jack developed an extraordinary ability to problem-solve through touch and persistence. That resilience carried into his work as a mechanical engineer and entrepreneur.
While at Worcester Polytechnic Institute, he built his first electric jet ski prototype, sparking a journey that would lead to founding eSki in 2021. Under his leadership, the company has pioneered innovations like hot-swappable batteries and fleet-ready geofencing, positioning eSki as a leader in sustainable watercraft.
Jack is not only an engineer and CEO but also a passionate rider, regularly testing prototypes himself. His story reflects eSki’s ethos: that limitations can be redefined, and clean mobility can be thrilling mobility.
